Postdoctoral Positions in Neurodegeneration

in Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine

 

The Neuroregeneration and Stem Programs in Institute for Cell Engineering, Johns Hopkins University school of Medicine have two open postdoctoral positions. Positions are open in Dr. Tae-In Kam’s labs (possible co-mentoring with Dr. Ted M. Dawson).

 

We are seeking highly motivated candidates with a PhD or MD/PhD degree in the fields of neuroscience, stem cell biology, molecular biology, cell biology, neurology, neuroimmunology, or biochemistry. Required is a demonstrated record of achievements and publications. Candidates are expected to have a strong work ethic, excellent organizational and communication skills and critical thinking abilities. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. 

 

Positions currently open

1) Positions open to study the effect of the immune system on neurodegeneration. Expertise in neuroinflammation, receptor-related cell biology, and gene-editing is preferred.


2) Positions open to study the circadian rhythm or sleep disturbance in Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s disease.


3) Positions open to study α-synuclein strains and prion-like cell-to-cell transmission. Expertise in cell biology, protein biochemistry, molecular biology, animal models and use of viral vectors, stereotaxic surgery, and microscopy are preferred.


4) Positions open to study the neurocircuitry of Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s disease.  Candidates should have a background in neuroscience or neurology.  Candidates with experience using viral vectors, optogenetics, stereotaxic surgery, RNAseq, single-cell seq, and microscopy are preferred.
