Abstract : Circadian clocks play a pivotal role in orchestrating numerous physiological and developmental events. Waveform shapes of molecular oscillations in circadian clocks could be important for precise temporal coordination of biological processes. Here, we found that waveforms themselves reveal hidden biochemical mechanisms of circadian timekeeping across animals and plants. Our waveform-centric approach provides insights into circadian timekeeping mechanisms across evolutionarily-distant organisms, and can be extended to various biological oscillators, including cell-cycle and synthetic genetic oscillators
